Everybody wants to make the apps and programs look a bit more personal. Microsoft Teams is no exception, you can do it, too.
Be it a dark theme, read receipts, apps, notifications, and custom status messages are the main items you are going to see in this article.
A look at the top ways you can customize Microsoft Teams to your personal liking.
The Dark Theme
The very first and simple way you can customize your Teams is by changing the theme to a dark theme. There is no custom theme available in Teams but you can switch the Teams app over to a dark theme or a high contrast theme.
To change the theme, click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. After that, click Settings. Navigate to the first General tab. Then, you can choose the Dark theme from the Theme option. Once you select the Dark option Teams will switch over to the dark theme. No need to restart the application. It turns the background in Teams from white to a dark color.
There is also a high contrast theme available. If you find it convenient you can try that too. It is even darker and with minimal colors.
Enable/Disable Read Receipts
By default, read receipts turned on in Microsoft Teams. The main idea behind this setting is you can understand whether the person has read your message on a chat. As the name suggests, your messages in a chat will show an eye icon next to the message if read. You can turn it on or off in the settings.
To change the theme, click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. After that, click Settings. Navigate to the first Privacy tab. Toggle between the Radio button to enable or disable this feature.
There is also an exceptional case. If you send a chat to someone who has read receipts turned off. But you still have the feature turned on, you won’t be able to see read receipts at all from that person.
Add Apps
Next is Apps. You can install apps in Teams. These include Planner, Jira cloud, Trello, YouTube, Zoom, Survey Monkey, Flow and a lot more. It has 200+ applications that you can download, and install on Teams to make it better.
You can choose Apps from the left navigation of Teams, and then search for your apps to add it there. You’ll then see the app appear in the sidebar.
Notifications
By using these settings, you can customize the notifications you receive in Teams.
To change the notification, click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. After that, click Settings. Navigate to the first Notification tab. Toggle between the Radio button to enable or disable this feature.
These include notifications to control mentions, messages, status, highlights, and more. The options include banner and email notifications.
Status Message
Another customization for the Teams is creating a status message. With this status message, you can notify your colleagues to know what you are doing.
These settings can be set up for a few hours, days, weeks, or on a daily basis. You can add more information to it up to 280 characters, including emojis.
To change the notification, click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. After that, click the Set status message button. A box will then appear and you can enter your custom message and click Done.
You can set a custom time for the status message to clear, on an hourly, weekly, or specific basis.
