In this article we’ll discuss 360-degree web parts that are available in SharePoint spaces. In order to know about SharePoint spaces basics features, how to enable SharePoint spaces and its scope, kindly refer to my previous article getting started with SharePoint Spaces which deals with SharePoint spaces introduction.
As mentioned earlier SharePoint spaces are used to give mixed reality experience. This can be done by means of web parts that are available in SharePoint spaces.
It is a combination of 2D and 3D content to create a custom experience in 360-degree manner.
In this article rather rediscussing basic concepts, Let’s discuss some of the real-world cases where SharePoint Spaces are used.
Business Use Case
Scenario 1: If you want to have an asset management system to pick the laptop or mobile devices for your employees.
Scenario 2: SharePoint spaces are used in the case where a client wishes to make a tour of a new building project or a demo of project steps and launches.
Not only in the IT industry, it plays an important role in various fields like Education, CAD Modelling and so on.
Hence Knowledge of Spaces plays a vital role, where you need a quality view.

Before using SharePoint spaces, check whether your system supports mixed reality.
Let’s discuss about 360 web parts that are available in SharePoint spaces.
Once after activating the SharePoint Spaces in the SharePoint site. Navigate to the space page, click on the Add symbol placed on the left corner of the site as given below in the screenshot.
It will open up the available list of the web parts. There are about 10 web parts totally in the web part list as shown in the above screenshot.
In this article we are going to look at the 360-degree web parts alone. Search for 360 web parts in the search bar. There are about three 360-degree web in the SharePoint spaces.
360-degree Image Web Part:
It is used to view the image at its best. You can add image and visual experience in 360 degree. Click on the 360 image web part. The screen will appear as given below in the screenshot.
Click on the image icon, now you will be able to choose the image either from OneDrive, Upload option and so on as like a normal SharePoint site. In this demo, a sample image is used. Once after choosing the imageClick Open.
Now, you are able to view the image over the background. Something special to note here is the image is tilted for 360 degree and can be edited. Image magnitude and other features are managed easily as highlighted in the screenshot below,
Multiplication of images can be done easily by means of clicking the Save like icon on next to the edit icon.
You will be able to edit the images as given in the below screenshot. Podium is a black box on which the web part is placed. It’s like a stage to lift the images. Turn off the podium, if it is not required.
Close the 360-degree image by clicking anywhere in the 360-degree web part.
Once configuring all, republish your space page.
360-degree tour web part
Choose 360-degree tour web part from the search as given below,
As like Image web Part, tour web part allows us to choose an image from upload option and so on. The main use of this web part is, it allows users to move through a sequence of 360-degree images. It is mainly used to link the image with other features like videos, audios, texts and so on. In this demo, sample Image is used. Click open as given below in the screenshot.
This is how SharePoint spaces 360 tour web part looks on the SharePoint site. In this demo, sample image is used and it is 360 degree rotatable with 3D-content, add action such as link to another page, play audio or link to another space as given below in the screenshot.
Tips to Increase Efficiency:
Include all the images of the entire tour in a single document for easy access.
Arrange the image in the sequence order in which you want so that they appear in the sequence order.
360-degree Video web part
It allows the user to experience video’s in its best. For Example, User guideline video’s or Product featuring videos can be viewed on 360 degree. Click on the 360-degree video web part. The screen will appear as given below in the screenshot.
Click on the video icon, now you will be able to choose the video either from OneDrive, Upload option and so on as like a normal SharePoint site. In this demo, Either Give the link of the existing videos or Upload from the local folder. Once after uploading the videoClick Add item.
It will take some time to upload the video on the site. Once it’s done, you are able to view the 360-degree video on the SharePoint site.
Publish the site, video web part works as given below in the screenshot.
